Where do I fax the 'letter of authorization' or my credentials ? You MUST fax a letter of authorization or credentials to 206/350-1229 for all product orders that indicate any law enforcement affiliation. If documentation is not received or not already on file, your order will be delayed indefinitely.
Can anyone order police products ? For all products that indicate any law-enforcement affiliation, the ordering agency must have a current account with our company and submit a purchase order number. Agencies who have not done business with us must submit a letter of authorization signed by the chief or department head. Agency designs are strictly controlled by us and our vendors - no products will be sold to individuals without authorization. We do not sell products to collectors; however we should note that the police insignia hobby is growing. We recommend that departments have policies in place for controlling insignia once it leaves our offices and policies for department members on collecting and trading department insignia.
Can sworn law-enforcement officers order product for personal use ? Individual law-enforcement officers seeking to have a second "stand-by" badge or other product made for themselves will be required to submit a copy of a current valid police ID, a pay-stub, or other proof of employment along with a departmental phone number that is answered 24-hours a day. We require that credentials or a Department ID be faxed to our office prior to us processing the order. The ID must bear the name of the person we are shipping to. As an alternative we do accept a letter signed by a chief or commanding officer authorizing the purchase of the badge. We reserve the right to contact the department to verify employment. It is the customers responsibility to confirm any department policy on back-up, retired, second, stand-by, or wallet badges; customers agree to assume any liability resulting from actions or demands brought against us for any and all TRADEMARK, PATENT, COPYRIGHT infringements or violations of said department policies or government regulations.
Are there actual laws or regulations about who can purchase and use law-enforcement items ? Yes. It is the responsibility of the purchaser or holder to insure any public safety products (badge, lights, sirens, etc.) are used in accordance with all local, state, and federal applicable laws governing usage and ownership and that City Police Equipment and Public Safety Sales and its owner or representatives shall be held harmless in any litigation. The customer agrees to assume any liability resulting from actions or demands brought against us for infringements of any laws relating to our products.
Do I have to order products using your online system ? You can submit department purchase orders by fax. Manually calculate the base price of the product(s) you want to order and fax your PO or list of items desired to us at 206/350-1229 -- be sure to include your contact info and all information we will need to process your order. To order name bars by fax, download the namebar ordering form off our name bars ordering page. To order badges by fax choose your style from our catalogs and download our badge order form from our catalogs page. When sending fax orders, include your letter of authorization or credentials, and your contact phone number so someone can call you regarding any validation of shipping and payment information. May I request samples before placing an order ? We often send samples of coins, pins, patches and other items to show you fit and finish. We only send samples after we have determined you are a bona-fide potential customer. The samples you receive from us will be actual products we have sold - not an over the top prototype design from our manufacturers. No police samples will be provided unless you are a law-enforcement agency and no full-size badges are ever sent as sales samples. If you are a customer and you do not want products identifying your agency distributed as samples, you must inform us in writing when placing your order (an administrative fee may apply.)
Can you design a custom logo or seal for our department, agency, or company ? We offer FREE custom center seals on badges for orders of 25 or more. Recently many departments have become aware that they are not authorized to use the seal of their state without proper permission. Even though they may be a government agency under the umbrella of the state, and they already have been using the seal for hundreds of years, they find that they have not filed the proper forms or requested permission to use the official seal of their state. Some states like FL, prohibit the use of their seal on any badges except for law enforcement. Bail Bondsmen, Bounty Hunters, and other types of Private Investigators cannot use the seal of most states. Make sure you have permission to use the seal you are requesting. Fair Use does not apply to these products in any way. Are you properly licensed to reproduce and sell the "state seals" you offer on your insignia? We do not design, manufacture, reproduce or sell state seals. We are not a reseller or vendor of state seals. The public safety insignia you order from a choice of manufacturers, through us, may include the seal you have requested. By submitting an order to us, you agree that you have obtained the rights for usage of all seals. Customers (including a governmental public safety agency) and/or a product manufacturer may be responsible for licensing or registering for use (or commercial use) of a particular seal. Check with your states Attorney General or governing Secretary to make sure you have permission to use the seal you are requesting. May I order custom insignia with trademarked logos on them ? Seller assumes no liability in any trademark, patent, or copyright infringement disputes. By submitting information you represent and warrant that the content is accurate; you own or have permission to use the content that you submit; and that use of the content will not cause injury to any person or entity; therefore we assume that customers have the rights for usage of all information, logos and/or designs sent to us. The customer agrees to assume all liability resulting from actions or demands brought against us for any and all TRADEMARK, PATENT or COPYRIGHT infringements.
What forms of payment do you accept ? All orders must be accompanied by credit card, government check, or department purchase order. Government checks returned for insufficient funds are subject to a returned check charge plus any applicable bank charges and collection fees. Credit card processing for all online ordering is secure through citypublicsafety.com and PayPal.com websites. Billing on your credit card for all online orders will appears as "T L Companies" on your credit card statement. Accounts past due will be placed on hold, and future purchase orders may not be accepted.
How long does it take to order your insignia products ? Custom engraved badges take 4-14 weeks depending on the manufacturer, and Quick-Ship items are delivered in 3 weeks or less. Shipping times for Coins, Patches, Lapel Pins and other items are much shorter and are listed on the website. Please contact us for lead times on larger orders.
How can I cancel an order ? Custom insignia products cannot be returned. If we make a mistake we will replace the item at no additional charge. Any changes or cancellations cannot be done after placing an order.
Will you ship to PO Boxes ? Orders must be shipped to a street address. We do not ship to P.O. boxes or APO military addresses, no exceptions. All foreign purchase orders must be payable in U.S. funds.
Do your prices include shipping and handling charges ? Shipping and handling charges are included in online purchase prices of most of our badges. Shipping for all other badge orders are based on the manufacturer's published shipping rates. Shipping for patches, coins, lapel pins and other products is on a per quote basis or as noted online.
